In The Mix

Wrap - Ecote, Tank - C&C California, Shorts - Levi's, Bag - Urban Outfitters, Sunnies - Urban Outfitters

Wasn't quite sure what to title this blog post... and then I slowly realized that this whole look is a real mix of different styles. You have your John Lennon inspired round shade sunglasses which are a throwback to the hippie days. The fringe wrap is super bohemian, the skull printed tank and black faux cross-body bag are both punk/rock, and the costume pearl necklace is classic and old-fashioned. I love mixing a bunch of different looks together yet making them work. You have to really step out of your comfort zone and play around if you want to be noticed as a true individual in the fashion world. I threw on all of these pieces and they somehow all came together. Don't be shy and get in the mix!!

Wavy Navy

Dress - Manito, Shoes - Lovely People, Bag - Chanel, Earrings - Ruby & Jenna

So this is my mom's dress that I've been wanting to get my hands on for quite some time. There is so much I love about it - the rich navy hue, the braided straps, the pockets, & just the way the fabric feels and falls. It's very light and not to mention, it's super sexy. Navy is such a classic color... so luxurious. I love the bright orange thrown into the straps - such a great color combination. These Lovely People shoes make the outfit, as they match perfectly and really spruce up the look. This gorgeous Chanel bag is my mom's from the 90's - it's a very feminine & timeless piece. The combination of camel and gold is so elegant and chic. It's the perfect bag - can be worn day or night. Oh almost forgot, I recently bought these adorable orange & gold earrings from Ruby & Jenna to wear as a fun accessory - they have definitely been coming in handy.

Home Alone

Color coordination at its finest... although it does get messy when I'm in a rush. Oh and I only use velvet hangers, doesn't matter which color... they give you more space as they are super thin so you can fit a lot.

Just a portion of my extensive shoe collection...

My mom bought this for me about a year ago, it's a verse from our favorite poem, "I carry your heart."

Not a huge perfume wearer, but here we have my two faves (Nina Ricci Apple & Burberry Brit Sheer). We also have my earring display that I purchased from Urban Outfitters and a vase of stones that were hand-picked from the Hamptons.

Candles on candles... just bought the pink one from Kitson - obsessed.

Loving my new jewelry organizer, put bracelets and rings in the front and long necklaces in the back.

Cute decorative that my parents bought me when I was little that currently hangs in my closet...

Tees, tees, and some more tees...

From left to right - vintage leather bag, Anthropologie white crochet bag, new shearling coat from Forever 21, and a Badgley Mischka fedora.

My beautiful, cozy bed.

My collection of Rachel Bilson magazines topped with a book all about Malibu...

Bought this lovely piece on the streets of Los Angeles from a super talented artist...

Some more color coordinated, organization skills of mine...

What to do when your home alone and have no one to take pictures of you? Organize and take pics of your "stuff" of course...

Planet Earth

Shirt - Old Navy, Shorts - Levi's, Bag - H&M

So I bought this super chic, sleeveless blouse at Old Navy recently... how cute? I fell in love with the print on it, as it reminded me a lot of Marc Jacobs. I'm a big fan of these bold colors as well, as they reminded me of the earth. The bow tie on this top completes it, giving it that extra feminine, sophisticated appeal. I wore these gold earrings to my Bat-Mitzvah six years ago, they are definitely that one pair that I will never get rid of. Okay I live in these Levi's to the point where it's abusive... no, but really. What can I say, they are my #1 necessity!

Metallic Denim

Metallic jeans are one of the hottest up and coming trends for the fall season. Talk about standing out in a crowd. From sparkling shades of silver, gold, pewter, and rose gold - I want them all! Metallic jeans look amazing with classic white shirts, grungy sweaters, black leather jackets, structured blazers - the list really goes on & on. I love the look of these, they are so wearable - if you want to take the classic route or the edgy route, with these metallic numbers, you can really go either way. I'm off to hunt for a great pair myself right now, wish me luck! Xx

The Grove

Dress - Vintage, Boots - Steve Madden, Bag - Olivia Harris

Living in LA calls for a visit to many different hot spots, "The Grove," being one of them. Great restaurants, endless shopping, and so much culture - love it all. Not to mention, the Farmers Market there is pretty insane. Onto the outfit, there are times when my style dramatically changes from one day to the next. I was watching "The Last Song" yesterday and was really inspired by Miley Cyrus' outfits in the film. It's sort of a cross between that hippie, bohemian look & that edgy, rocker look. Was searching through my closet and came across this little black dress that seemed to fit the grungy, boho-rock look that Miley portrayed in the movie. Just like many girls, whatever clothing I throw on is based on my mood that morning. One day I'm covered in head-to-toe floral prints, the next day I'm feeling punkish which calls for all black... the list goes on and on. I guess that's why they call it "personal style," because no one else on this planet dresses exactly the way you do. I like having versatile style because why stick to just one look - it's important to change it up and try out different things. So yeah, this studded, distressed black leather bag and these vintage inspired boots seemed to be a great match with this dress. Oh and my classic black wayfarers of course...

Beanie Baby

Dress - Lucca Couture, Beanie - Laundry by Shelli Segal, Shoes - Steve Madden

This dress is so versatile, you can totally dress it up or down and get away with it worn both ways. I bought it at Urban Outfitters a few years ago, it's a great go-to dress to throw on when you don't know what else to wear. It's casual, cozy, and chic... I love the pintuck detailing on it, definitely gives it a little something extra. I am such a hat person, I know it's like 90 degrees but really wanted to put this beanie on and pretend that it was autumn. Beanies always remind me of the reggae legend Bob Marley, agreed? They are great to wear on a bad hair days, so every girl should own one just incase. And just like beanie babies... this outfit is a great add to your collection. Not to mention the toe cleavage, love.

Coral Daze

Shorts - LF, Shirt - Forever 21, Bag - Kooba, Sunnies - H&M, Shoes - Lucky

So I am officially living in LA!! Such a big move across the country... I must say I am a New York girl at heart because that's where I was born & raised but I needed a change and there is no place like Los Angeles... Onto the outfit, this is definitely one of my favorite shirts as I'm a big fan of the classic oxford stripe - so traditional and preppy. Love the look of one side of the shirt tucked in and one side out, it really gives off that laid-back LA vibe. Since the stripes are very subtle, I wanted to brighten this outfit up with some coral. I have been living in these new LF shorts, I know they are super short but hey there is a major heat wave going on out here so the less clothing the better. Off to do some more unpacking, clothes on clothes on shoes on shoes on bags on bags (aka - one humongous never-ending process).

Nature's Calling

Shirt - Vintage, Shorts - H&M, Bag - Urban Outfitters, Shoes - Kimchi Blue
Photos by Hali Garber

So I have to give Hali some props here because this entire outfit belongs to her... and I want everything. This shirt was such a great thrift find - I love the old-fashioned, retro looking floral print on it. We were literally in the wilderness for this shoot, felt like Eliza Thornberry - legit. So yeah everything in this little ensemble here definitely came together and created such a laid back yet put together look. Needed a statement accessory to go along with girly girl outfit and that's where the red flats came along - nothing like a bold pop of color that's made to stand out.

Sealed With a Kiss

Shirt - Vintage, Bag - Vintage, Shoes - Kimchi Blue
Photos by Hali Garber

Okay so I know what I'm wearing in these pics is a little ballsy and maybe a bit promiscuous but hey we've got to take risks in the fashion world don't we? This adorable shirt was another great thrift find that wasn't super long on me but I thought I could pull it off as a little dress. I am so over wearing dresses that are super short, that's so Sweet 16 era - don't we all agree? I think it's so trashy now and it's so much classier to avoid showing the world your tush. I know I could have paired this with denim shorts or anything for that matter, but I was going for that Hamptons beach look and I think I pulled it off. My heart shaped sunglasses were a must & these red flats once again tied the whole outfit together.
