Brooklyn We Go Hard

Wearing: Jacket - Vintage, Jeans - Vintage, Belt - Abaco, Satchel - Shoemint, Shoes - Necessary Clothing, Shirt - Theory

So last week while I was in New York, a few friends and I decided to go to Unique, a thrift store on Long Island that I've been wanting to check out for quite some time now. I ended up finding 6 great pieces for just $20. I was in shock at the fact that each piece I grabbed was under $5 - unreal. This little plaid jacket was one of my finds... don't you love? It's super light and I'm really digging the attached shoulder pads inside. Plaids are so big and bold this season, as they are a classic print that's constantly being tweaked and reinvented time after time. Oh and I warned you that my new Shoemint satchel would be spotted on the blog many times... no I wasn't exaggerating. Absolutely loving my new Brooklyn Nets hat, no better feeling than showing off my New York roots while living in Cali.

All Knotted Up

Wearing: Skirt - Milky Way, Tank - American Apparel, Button-Down - Vintage Havana, Boots - Steve Madden, Satchel - Shoemint, Sunglasses - H&M, Earrings - H&M, Long Necklace - L Sand Jewlery

Just bought this skirt the other day, couldn't get over how chic and feminine looking it was. I decided to dress it down with a casual tank and a laid-back denim button-down. I love the idea of tying a knot at the bottom of a maxi dress/skirt, as it shows off your shoes and prevents the bottom from hitting the floor and getting dirty. This is such a fun way to wear a maxi, as it's so creative and really adds a twist. I chose to pair this soft skirt with some badass boots because I love the whole good girl gone bad look. As for my new schoolboy satchel from Shoemint, I'm obsessed. It goes with everything and anything, so prepare to see it appear on my blog countless times in the coming months. Cannot believe it's almost December, this year flew by so quickly. As I get older, I find that the years seem to come and go like crazy. Need to just live for the moment and nothing else.

Giving Thanks

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! This day is definitely one of my favorite holidays, and not just because of all the delicious food. This is such a special day in my eyes because it gives us the time to really give thanks to all of those around us and to value everything we have in our lives. I find that the older I get, the more I'm really able to appreciate all of the little things that I'm blessed with each day. We have to just live for the moment and constantly focus on what truly matters (family, friendship, love). Because real happiness stems from those three things right? Yes it's true that life is not perfect but it's important for us to be grateful for all of the countless blessings we've had throughout the years and to continue that for the future.

Night Lights

My best friend, Carly, had to do a a night photo shoot for her photography class so we decided to step out in the freezing cold and take some rad pics. Pretty sure we both got frostbite by the end of the shoot (jokes) - but hey, desperate times do call for desperate measures, right? Anyways, just wanted to share a few of the shots with you guys... really digging the cool colors that she used in all of these - not what I was expecting but I must admit, I'm definitely a fan.

Fashion Lane

Heres a few snaps from recent lookbooks on the LF Stores blog, Fashion Lane. From chunky knits to skater dresses to studded skirts, LF is always on their game when it comes to fashion forward trends. I love stalking their blog because they portray such various types of girls - one may be into the whole "geek chic" look, one may be into the whole "grungy goddess" look, and the other may be into the classic "schoolgirl look", but it shows how you can really be a different girl everyday depending on how you dress. Be sure to check out their blog every week, as they are constantly updating it with super trendy pics - promise you won't be disappointed!

Time for Layers

Wearing: Sweater - Necessary Clothing, Shirt - Emma & Sam, Jeans - H&M, Clutch - Marc Jacobs, Sunglasses - Vintage, Boots - Steve Madden

Back in New York... which means that it's time for some lovely layers - finally! Oh how I've been longing to deck out in layers and bundle up in my cozy sweaters. I love layering in different textures, as it really creates some versatility in an outfit. This oatmeal colored T-Shirt that I got from LF is probably my #1 go-to shirt when it comes to layering. It looks good under everything, from sweaters to long sleeve shirts to blazers. Of course, I needed a pop of color here, so my favorite red clutch surely came in handy - agreed? Sorry about the lack of outfit posts last week, was extremely busy but many new posts coming this week so stay tuned my fashionable followers! Happy Monday everyone...

Full Force

Clutches are really going supersize style these days. These chic bags have made their way into the fashion world and don't plan on leaving anytime soon. They are going full force this season ladies. So be sure to invest in one in either a bright statement color or stay safe by sticking to a neutral, everyday color. Either way, you'll surely be rocking this "carry it all" clutch (literally though, you can fit important papers for school, countless packs of gum, and even an iPad inside). Not just for the day to take to work, wear it out at night while grabbing drinks with the girls! I so support this hot trend because it gives such a fresh, new look to the elegant, traditional clutch that we all know and love...

F I D M

So I am sooo excited to be starting classes at FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising) in January. I just got accepted last week and I could not be happier. The campus is in such a cool area, downtown LA... I almost feel like I'm in New York City when I'm there (plus palm trees & beautiful weather all year round of course). I'm going to be majoring in Visual Communications, which is such a creative, hands on major and is perfect for fashion bloggers and aspiring stylists.

Students in this major get to collaborate on real-world projects with many industry professionals, like Anthropologie, Warner Bros, Saks Fifth Avenue, and more. I know this school will do great things for me and I cannot wait to take advantage of all of the amazing opportunities offered there. FIDM has a career center that helps students in finding part–time positions in their respective fields. I'd love to intern for a fashion magazine, preferably Teen Vogue, since I want to do something that combines both fashion & writing.

If you didn't know from watching "The Hills", Lauren Conrad attended FIDM and interned at Teen Vogue while she was there - I'd die to follow in those footsteps, literally. One of my favorite bloggers, Jules from Sincerely Jules, also went there and majored in Visual Communications, and she says that this particular major has a wide variety of different career opportunities compared to all of the other majors offered at FIDM. With VCom, she says, you can work in event planning, window displays, visual merchandising, and wardrobe styling. So as you can tell, I'm full of excitement and am counting down the days until I start FIDM. Just wanted to give you guys an update about what's in store for me for the next 2 years. Happy Monday everyone, xx!!

Schoolboy Swag

So I just ordered this adorable "Schoolboy Satchel" from Shoemint. I've been on the hunt for an everyday satchel and after coming across this one, all of my problems were solved. I wanted to get a Cambridge Satchel in yellow for a few months now, but wasn't looking to spend over $100 (since I have an unhealthy amount of bags as it is). This satchel was on sale for $40, so it was really a no brainer for me. It also came in neon yellow & neon pink trim but I thought the black trim was the most subtle and the most classic, plus it will definitely go with all of the colors of the rainbow - which is basically my wardrobe). I love satchels because you can wear them so many different ways, as they are so versatile. You can carry it by the handle, wear it cross-body style, or just throw it over your shoulder. I'm so happy that Shoemint decided to incorporate bags into their collection from just shoes. So clever of them... anyways, be sure to check out their website whenever you can, as they have such a great variety of both shoes & bags - you'll fall in love with so many that you won't know which ones to choose. Cannot wait to receive my satchel in the mail soon, hope it's a winner!

Wednesday Inspiration

A little bit of Wednesday inspiration for you guys... nothing like a daily dose of some street style in the middle of the week, agreed? From chunky knits to denim on denim to leather jackets - fall is definitely the best season for fashion. So for those of you who are already sipping on some hot chocolate & decked out in layers, I must admit I'm a little jealous as I'm over here on the west coast, still soaking up the sun. Being out here definitely makes me appreciate the different seasons, because fashion changes through out each season and I feel like I'm still suck in summer!! I know I shouldn't be complaining but it's November already... come on Cali, time to bring on the breeze!
