Thoughts on New Years

So as I was doing my daily blog reads of the day, I came across a very interesting post by Emily, of Cupcakes and Cashmere (one of my favorite blogs). It was all about how most people don't stick to their New Year's resolutions... actually only about 10% stick to them (big wow). Instead of making big changes in your life, Emily suggests a list of little things that she wants to do more, since it's really all about celebrating the "little things" in life, right? It's about a change in perspective, she claims...

"Light candles with dinner. Climb back into bed on the weekends without feeling guilty. Plan a vacation. Wear high heels to brunch with friends. Spend more time outside. Be nicer to myself. Eat breakfast for dinner. Rearrange furniture. Visit more museums. Host monthly game nights. Take cooking classes. Hear more live music. Go to the movies, if not just for the popcorn/soda/candy. Buy our first piece of art. Declutter, constantly. Plan surprise date nights. Take day trips. Speak more Spanish. Less text messages, more calls."

Just wanted to share Emily's list with you all, hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. It really gave me the reminder that life's little pleasures need to be praised more often. As I enter this new year, I want to focus on being a more positive/spiritual person, spreading some sunshine wherever I go. There's always room for improving, for all of us.

So sorry about the lack of outfit posts this week, was sick for a few days & that on top of unpacking from New York... I just needed a few peaceful days of relaxation, but many new outfit posts coming next week! Have a great first weekend of 2013 everyone! Xx

  1. I love that list! I think it's a much better idea to have little things as resolutions, come to think of it. Much more attainable. Thanks for sharing!

  2. This is great, it's why I don't do actual resolutions! All the very best to you in 2013!

  3. Thanks for sharing this great idea, both you and Emily are right in saying it's about life's little pleasures and the list is a way better idea than resolutions we forget! I wish I'd seen this sooner but it's not too late to make a list!

  4. Happy 2013 girl and completely agreed with you and this is why I don't ever have any resolutions.

    Following you now.
